Yes, virgin hair gets split ends. They are sadly inevitable. They are mostly caused by friction/rough handling. The best way to prevent them is to detangle as gently as possible with a wide toothed comb and to wear your hair in protective updos as much as possible.

You can co-wash your hair as often as you like. Some shampoos will strip the hair of all it's moisture and the hair will become dry and tangled. Instead of always shampooing and conditioning, only condition (co-wash) your hair for 15- 30 minutes.
